Hi everyone! My name is Grace, with the smiling face :). Born and raised in Manila, Philippines and currently lives in Vancouver, Canada with my husband and four kids (adults actually…).
I remember growing up watching and helping my Nanay (as we fondly call my mother) prepare and serve food in the kitchen or during large family gatherings. Filipinos have their own recollections of large batches of food offered during fiestas or birthday celebrations and I’m sure other cultures have this too. Those memories and experiences led to my immense passion for cooking. Nanay started cooking at the age of 9; and her dishes were from recipes she has developed through the years as well as from family recipes. My ultimate favorite is her pancit bihon. And I’m proud to say, I can make this noodle dish even with my eyes closed…well not literally.
Knowing the basics is key to cooking but I also cook by taste rather than strict portions and measurements of the ingredients. Although I cook international dishes, Filipino Cuisine is mostly what I cook at home and I would get a call or two from friends requesting for a couple of dishes but recently they are increasing as word of mouth gets around pretty quickly. Friends would call and even ask for the recipes so I thought what better way to share them than in a blog or a video. Then I would be able to reach out to more people than just one person at a time.
So I hope you enjoy cooking the recipes that I will share here as I do. I will also give you tips and tricks with regards to anything kitchen related as well as my own reviews for kitchen products and places where I travel and eat. Until next time…let’s be thankful for our daily grace.
